Taiwan Social Distancing App: Red Alert! Don’t Panic, Dial 1922!

Many people downloaded the Taiwan Social Distancing App in hopes of protecting themselves during the epidemic. Chen Tsung-yen, Deputy Commander of the CECC, stated that 154 new cases have been confirmed in the past 4 days. He is calling on the public not to panic when receiving red alerts from the social distancing app and to contact the Department of Health through the 1922 hotline as soon as possible.

Chen Tsung-yen, Deputy Commander of the CECC, declared that along with the help of the CECC, after contacting the confirmed cases one by one, there is currently an updated number of 183 cases on the app. If people are in close contact with the confirmed cases, the app will send a red alert with a notice saying: "In contact with a confirmed individual". Once receiving this alert, contact the Department of Health through the 1922 hotline. Pay attention to your personal health and seek medical attention as soon as you feel unwell.

3 steps to follow when receiving red alerts:

  1. Do not panic. Stay calm and wear your mask.
  2. Pay attention to your personal health and recall whether you experienced any discomfort or symptoms in the past few days. If you have any suspected symptoms, please report them immediately.
  3. If you are sure to have symptoms, make sure to inform a medical professional you have been in contact with a confirmed case. Relay your travel history and other relevant information, so that the medical professionals can make a diagnosis and report in a timely manner.
