Taichung City Government has promoted various social welfare policies, such as assisting in the motorcycle license exam, establishing the only multicultural library in Taiwan, integrating 29 districts of civil system, and providing medical assistance and supports for new residents who encounter an emergency.
The director of the Department of Social Welfare of Taichung City Government, Peng Huaizhen, points out that Taichung has approximately 60,000 new residents. The city government would cooperate with private sectors to implement the care for new residents. Also, 25 service centers are established at new residents' communities, and 4 family service centers are also established in the urban areas, at mountain lines, sea line, and Tun Districts, hoping that new residents can get the help and information they need nearby.
The Department of Social Welfare of Taichung City Government states that an Indonesian new resident who is engaged in Jawa Barat (West) traditional dance performances, occasionally participated in the new resident community event that has expanded her community. She also serves a volunteer at school, the community, and the multicultural library to share her life experiences. It is the service centers that bring her energy and the direction to face the obstacles in her life.
