Tracing their roots, a second generation of immigrants goes on the journeys with her mother

In cooperation with IC Voice FM97.5【New Students Report For Sharing -We are in Taiwan】, a series of exciting stories about new immigrants in Taiwan is launched.  This episode invites the second generation of immigrants from Indonesia – ZENG YU FENG (曾玉鳳).

Zeng Yu Feng shares her story with the audients about current job and her journey of tracing family roots with her mother.

Before her current job as an HR, she experienced a period of feeling lost. During this time, she asked herself what her values were.  She finally discovered that the fields she was interested in were human resources and psychology.  Now, she is the professional career counselor which that helping people to find their real interests and values at work .

Zeng’s mother was an Indonesian Chinese before married.  She didn’t have chance to go back to Indonesia for more than twenty years.  When Zeng was in senior high school, she began to have the idea of taking her mother to Indonesia.  She accomplished this when she was in university.

After being away for 20 years, Zeng's mother felt like a tourist rediscovering her home country when they visited Indonesia.  It was just the beginning.  They started to plan to trace their roots. 

Zeng's mother's ancestors originally hailed from Kinmen County, Taiwan, then moved

to Singapore and Indonesia.  So, they visited Kinmen after visiting Indonesia.  Zeng mentioned that although members of her mother's family lived in different countries, they remained connected by Kinmen.

In the future, Zeng would like to learn more knowledge about two of her favorite fields—human resources and psychology.  She encouraged everyone to believe in themselves when they feel lost.
