The Taichung International Animation Festival features international blockbusters and a chance to win air tickets to Japan has been expanded from 6 days to 9 days to mark its ninth anniversary. The event will take place between October 13 and October 21. There are 121 short films and 12 full-length movies included, including 21 Taiwanese animations.

The opening and closing films of this animation festival, "LUDA" (妖怪森林) from Taiwan and "PHOENIX: Reminiscence of Flower" (火之鳥:回憶中的花) from well-known manga artist, Tezuka Osamu, respectively, were noted by the Information Bureau of Taichung City Government. debuted, while another French cartoon, "Chicken for Linda!" (琳達想吃雞!) made its debut in Taiwan. Both movies are of the highest caliber.

This year, a special exhibition of the opening film "LUDA" and a joint exhibition (光影之間-2023TIAF動畫創作聯展) showcasing the creative process of the manuscripts, video records, etc. of Taiwan's chosen animation works in this competition will be held for the first time in order to help animation fans gain a deeper understanding of the secrets of animation creation. The exhibition will be on display until October 10th.

The 1989 classic animation "The Little Mermaid" will also be screened in a free outdoor event on September 23 at 6:30 pm for families and kids on the square in front of Taichung Railway Station.
