Chinese culture has several significant traditions that are observed during the Mid-Autumn Festival:

1. Admire the moon

The 15th day of the lunar calendar, which is the day of the full moon, is when the Mid-Autumn Festival takes place. Families tend to go home and reunite by observing the moon.

2. Honor one's ancestors

Worshiping the ancestors is a significant custom observed on the three main days of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Lunar New Year, and Dragon Boat Festival. Prepare "three animals" and "three vegetables" as sacrifices to show the ancestors the family's current position. The entire family may savor the gourmet cuisine of sacrifices during a reunion supper.

There is a tradition of "worshiping the Moon Goddess" at the Mid-Autumn Festival by offering mooncakes, pomelos, persimmons, and other sacrifices in order to pray for the family's safety and a joyful reunion. However, according to folklore, males often abstain from the Moon Goddess worship rituals.
