In an effort to encourage citizens to have children and boost the birth rate, the Hsinchu City Government recently announced that the restriction that an income tax rate of more than 20% cannot apply for the "Pregnancy Special Car" (好孕專車) will be eliminated as of April 1st. According to the Hsinchu City Government, this policy will help around 1,000 pregnant women.

The mayor (高虹安)of Hsinchu, stated that the dropping birth rate has recently gotten more alarming. Beginning on April 1st of this year, all expectant women who are registered, genuinely dwell in Hsinchu City, have finished the marriage registration process with Hsinchu residents and have arrived in the nation for residency. The previous restriction that pregnant women who are new immigrants, settle here, or stay here cannot apply for the special bus for pregnancy has been lifted. These women can now take the Pregnancy Special Car to and from Hsinchu County and city hospitals for prenatal checkups.
The Hsinchu City Government further stated that each pregnant woman receives a total of NT$6,000 voucher from the Pregnancy Special Car service. Pregnant women in Hsinchu County and City can use it to travel to and from hospitals and clinics that offer prenatal examination services, and each time they do so, they can take an unlimited credit amount without any changes. The voucher also includes 10 hours of free designated temporary childcare services, free childcare advisory services, gift exchange certificates for nearby, welcoming childcare establishments in Hsinchu, as well as other savings.
