However, the demand for air cargo is strong and China Airlines has shifted its operating strategy to focus on cargo as its main force. According to China Airlines, it has the advantage of having 18 747F and 3 777F, a total of 21 freight aircrafts, combined with the strong cargo capacity of its passenger aircrafts, plus it flies to major cities in Europe, North America, Asia, New Zealand, Australia, and all over the world. With its international certification for cold chain transport and years of professional experience, China Airlines plays a major role in the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. In addition to transporting vaccines required by Taiwan, it also assists in the delivery of vaccines ordered by other countries from the place of production to the destination via Taiwan, and successfully seized the vaccine re-export business.

According to statistics from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), China Airlines Cargo has jumped to the fifth largest in the world and maintained its leading position in the international air cargo business. China Airlines transported 1.55 million tons of cargo in 2020, an increase of 12.8% from 2019. In terms of FRTK, China Airlines' cargo capacity in 2020 grew 18.4% compared to the previous year, ranking 10th in the world, and the growth rate of cargo volume is also the highest among the top ten companies, and its competitiveness in the air cargo industry is stable.
