According to The Straits Times, on January 15, more than 100,000 youngsters aged five to eleven have gotten their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination.

According to the Ministry of Education (MOE), over two-fifths of Elementary 1 to 6 kids in MOE primary schools have received their first dose.

It also stated that the "sibling walk-in arrangement" had seen "excellent uptake," with more than 2,800 youngsters vaccinated between Monday and Thursday in the first week of operation.

The agreement, which went into effect on January 3, permits siblings aged five to eleven to get their Covid-19 vaccinations at the same time and in the same appointment window.

"On average, we encountered one sibling who had walked in for their jab for every five vaccination appointments made," MOE added.

The next part of the paediatric vaccination campaign will begin on Monday, with youngsters receiving their second dose of vaccine in stages.

In addition, since Wednesday, mobile vaccination teams comprised of Health Promotion Board workers with experience supporting students with special needs have been gradually deployed to 12 of the 20 special education institutions.

According to the Ministry of Education, two out of every three kids in special education schools have registered for vaccination.

"Vaccination will help to safeguard our children as well as individuals in our community who are unable to receive the Covid-19 vaccine due to medical reasons."

"We highly recommend parents and guardians to get their medically eligible child or ward vaccinated as soon as possible, ahead of the next Christmas season, when there may be more social gatherings, and to be as prepared as possible for the expected Omicron wave," says the statement.
