On August 15, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced nine new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the nine new cases, two are domestic and the other seven are imported. The CECC reported no deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that the two domestic cases (they didn't test positive while they were in home isolation) are female in their 40s. They didn't experience any symptoms. Of the two domestic cases, one was reported in New Taipei City, and the other one case was reported in Taipei City.

Regarding the seven new imported cases, they are three men and four women, aged between 20 to 49 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the United States (two cases), Korea, Poland, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and Lithuania. They arrived between August 1 and August 13.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,348,221 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,331,010. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,852 cases. Of the 15,852 confirmed cases, 1,330 are imported; 14,469 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 821 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 821 deaths, 813 are from domestic cases and the other 8 are from imported cases.
