CECC: Nationwide epidemic alert to remain at Level 2 from September 21 to October 4

On September 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that considering that the pandemic in Taiwan has continued to subside with sporadic cases of domestic cases with unknown sources of infection, it will maintain the Level 2 epidemic alert, effective from September 21 to October 4, and will continue to implement or adjust related control measures. Details about related regulations and measures are listed below.

General principles:

  1. Masks must be worn at all times when outside except when consuming food and beverages.
  2. Contact information registration measures and social distancing must be implemented.
  3. Crowd control or capacity limit management at commercial business venues and public venues: a distance of at least 1.5 meters per person (2.25 square meters per person) is required indoors and a distance of at least 1 meter per person (1 square meter per person) is required outdoors.
  4. The limit on the number of people in gatherings (including events, exhibitions and banquets):
    1. 80 people indoors or over 80 people indoors but a distance of at least 1.5 meters per person (2.25 square meters per person) shall be maintained between people (the number of people that can be accommodated is calculated by dividing the floor area (deducting areas of fixed facilities or equipment) by 2.25 square meters.
    2. 300 people outdoors.
    3. If a gathering doesn't follow the above-mentioned rule, an epidemic prevention and control plan is required or the gathering should be organized according to the epidemic prevention and control rules of the competent authority.
  5. Event centers and exhibition venues: epidemic prevention and control guidelines issued by the Ministry of Economic Affairs shall be followed.
  6. Dining management and banquets: epidemic prevention and control guidelines for food and beverage venues shall be followed; social interactions such as leaving one's own table to toast other tables are not allowed at banquets.

Venues that remain closed under the Level 2 epidemic alert:

  1. Singing and dance venues, nightclubs, clubs, hostess bars, bars, KTVs, MTVs, beauty parlors (tourist parlors and audio-video parlors).
  2. Arcades, video game arcades, Internet cafes, majiang clubs, and other similar venues

In response to the COVID-19 variants, the CECC stated that it will continue border surveillance and enhance epidemic prevention measures. The CECC also urges the public to cooperate and pay attention to their personal hygiene and to seek medical attention immediately if necessary.
