Recent storms have caused significant disasters in northeastern Libya. More than 10,000 individuals are still missing as of September 14th, and the dead toll has surpassed 5,300. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan), the decision to donate $1 million was made in the spirit of humanity and would go toward helping the victims with relocation and reconstruction efforts.

According to reports, Hurricane Daniel just plowed into northern Libya, causing flooding and significant damage to several towns and cities. Derna was the city that was hardest impacted.
According to MOFA, as soon as the floods in Libya started, it gave the representative office in Jordan instructions to send a letter to the Libyan Embassy in Jordan expressing the government and people of Taiwan's condolences and willingness to help.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced that it will give one million US dollars to the Libyan government via appropriate channels in order to help the victims settle down and with various recovery and reconstruction tasks.
