o increase the vaccination rate in Taiwan, National Immigration Agency (NIA) has been promoting the “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” to encourage foreign nationals, including undocumented migrant workers and overstayers to receive free vaccination. The program adopts four principles, “won’t be reported”, “won’t be seized”, “won’t be charged for any fee”, “won’t be banned” and it will last until January 31, 2022.

National Immigration Agency (Chiayi City Service Center) collaborates with the Department of Health, Chiayi City Government and Da Xin Clinic (大心診所) to provide vaccination services at night and during holidays. Besides, information sheets in Chinese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, and English were printed for foreign nationals’ reference.

A Guai (nickname), a migrant worker from Vietnam, said that he was afraid of being investigated at first yet worried that he does not have health insurance to cover medical expenses and no one to take care of in case of getting vaccinated. Fortunately, A Guai happened to obtain the information and got vaccinated successfully, and he expressed his gratitude to medical staff and NIA personnel.

Chiayi City Brigade and Chiayi City Service Center appealed to the foreigners to receive free vaccination at designated medical institutions for free. Those who do not possess any identification documents can still get vaccinated as NIA will assist in issuing UI No. for them.
