Recently, the Taiwan-Philippine Education Foundation (台菲教育基金會) conducted a fundraising event in Manila with the intention of using the money earned to support underprivileged Filipino abroad students who wish to study in Taiwan and to further encourage educational exchanges between Taiwan and the Philippines. Finally, 15 million pesos (about NT$8.49 million) were raised thanks to the support of local Taiwanese businesspeople and people from all walks of life.

The Overseas Community Affairs Council has created a special industry-university cooperation class for international students for junior high school graduates, as well as a two-year overseas youth technical training class for high school graduates, noted Wallace M.G. Chow, the representative in the Philippines, in his speech. Additionally, it offers a variety of government supported scholarships to draw international students to Taiwan to pursue their studies. Following graduation, they have the option of working in Taiwan or going back to the Philippines to share what they've learned.
According to the CEO (林在良) of the Taiwan-Philippine Education Foundation, Taiwan has recently had to contend with the dilemma of a low birthrate as well as the worldwide rivalry for talent. The Taiwan-Philippine Education Foundation seeks to develop skills for Taiwanese industries and Taiwanese businesses in the Philippines by encouraging Filipino Chinese youngsters to pursue their education in Taiwan. Chinese-speaking professionals who are also familiar with Taiwan's corporate culture.
