The National University of Tainan (NUTN, 臺南大學) helped freshmen integrate into university life and understand the international learning environment on campus by organizing the "Online Freshman English Camp" in conjunction with the Ministry of Education's (MOE, 教育部) “Higher Education SPROUT Project” (高教深耕計). Although this event was carried out online due to the epidemic, a 360-degree panoramic online virtual map of the NUTN campus and map of the famous attractions of the old capital was specially created to allow freshmen to have an immersive experience. Foreign students and professional lecturers used 3D models and an all-English introduction of the school campus and of local life in Tainan. This way, freshmen can quickly integrate into university life and enhance their interest and ability in English learning.

Huang Yen-Chang (黃彥彰), director of the Language Center of the International Affairs Office of NUTN (南大國際事務處語文中心), said that the Freshman English Camp is one of the main activities for freshmen to participate in. He hopes that local freshmen can immediately integrate into the English learning environment of the international campus, improve their English skills at the university level, and accumulate their own skills for competitiveness in the future workplace. The 3D virtual maps are available to enable foreign freshmen students to familiarize themselves with the campus environment and to promote cultural exchanges between local and foreign students, to help them smoothly integrate into university life.

In addition, NUTN has established an English department to cultivate English professionals. It has also formed partnerships with 125 international schools and set up a language center that offers various language courses and activities to create a high-quality bilingual learning environment through various learning channels and to strengthen students’ international competitiveness.
