Going home during Chinese New Year holiday? 309 more train rides will be available according to TRA

According to the ocacnews, the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) announced that from January 27 to February 7, 2022, a total of 309 train rides will be added to the regular schedule to satisfy an expected rise in demand over the Chinese New Year holiday.

The holiday train tickets of TRA's Eastern Trunk Line will go on sale at 12 a.m. on December 29, while the that of Western Trunk Line will go on sale at 12 a.m. on December 30.

The TRA revealed that 36 additional Shulin-Hualien Fu-Hsing trains will run in the eastern region of Taiwan from January 29 to February 6 next year. For the Taipei-Yilan and Taipei-Hualien routes, discounted prices of NT$100 and NT$200 will be offered.

In addition, eight extra Tze-Chiang Limited Express trains will run from January 28-30 and February 4-6, with ticket sales beginning at 12 a.m. on Dec. 31.

According to the TRA, citizens whose ID numbers begin with the letters U or V, as well as those whose household registration is in Hualien or Taitung, would be given priority when registering for Tze-Chiang train tickets.

According to the TRA, those people's spouses and immediate families would be able to book tickets as well. The Chinese New Year holiday in Taiwan in 2022 will run from January 29 to February 6.
