Chen Changyu (陳昶宇), a doctor at the Zhongxiao Branch of Taipei City Hospital (TCH, 臺北市立聯合醫院忠孝院區) shared insights on his duty at the front line through a virtual interview with NIA Global News Network.

Once suffering from a tight medical capacity, TCH offered a virtual diagnose system and outdoor dispensaries. Those seeking medical help did not need to enter the hospital to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection, Chen said.

Chen pointed out to people worrying about their symptoms of mild diarrhea that they were usually related to unclean food carrying norovirus, rotavirus, adenovirus, etc., transmitted through the feces or mouth. Without a contact history, these people would simply have to improve their hygiene conditions.

Chen shared that once there was an elderly woman suffering from happy hypoxia in the emergency room with a DNR order. Not being able to talk as much as she wanted, she received her very last words from her son, “Don’t worry, mother, we will take care of ourselves.”
