The super typhoon Rai crashed into the Philippines last December. The infrastructures, including airports and some government buildings, were almost destroyed, while the solar panels and water pipes of the water supply station were twisted and severely damaged.

Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, Philippines Branch Office (台灣家扶基金會菲律賓分事務所) is determined to help disadvantaged families and meet their basic human needs, and then to invest in the reconstruction of water supply stations so that underprivileged children can have clean water to drink and use.

In addition, the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, Philippines Branch Office cooperated with a non-profit organization - a primary school - to build a solar water supply station on Siargao Island in the southern Philippines. Besides, tablets were also provided to school children in need who could not attend physical classes due to the pandemic. It is hoped that through the donations, the student would be able to turn their own life around for the better.

Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, Philippines Branch Office donated a water supply station to the non-profit organization - “Espoir School of Life” which has started operating in early December. According to the website of “Espoir School of Life”, Espoir means "hope" in French and the school founder is from France. The primary school is in the town of Del Carmen, nearby Siargao Airport.

The head of “Espoir School of Life”, Jerlyn Rabaca, said that residents of the community where the primary school is located were forced to relocate to the area due to the widening of roads nearby Siargao Airport. Most of the community residents are low-income households and live in poverty. Fortunately, with the help of the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, Philippines Branch Office, they can have lessons by using tablet computers.
