Valid period of stay for foreigners in Taiwan is about to expire

To avoid unnecessary outings and risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) implemented a temporary extension of stay for foreigners living in Taiwan. The NIA Hsinchu City Service Center reminds foreigners to complete any necessary procedures 30 days within the start of the nationwide level 2 alert. (July 27 to August 25)

While under the nationwide level 3 alert, the NIA Hsinchu City Service Station reminded foreigners to apply for an extension of stay from July 28 to August 6. Those who DO NOT meet the requirements for this extension must prepare for departure before August 6.

The NIA Hsinchu City Service Center continues to promote activities for foreigners and new immigrants while under the nationwide level 2 alert. It launched online learning courses for users to avoid going out and to stay at home and learn instead.

Regarding the extension of stay, the online registration platform will be opened on August 1 this year. The system is designed to make it easy for students to understand the step-by-step procedures for the application.

The NIA launched a project offering free digital and computer resources for new immigrants in mid-July this year. As long as they meet the status of low-income households, please call the consultation hotline 0809-092-101. New immigrants can visit the New Immigrants in Taiwan website and register with a 12 digit code to borrow the free digital resources.
