A girl from Gyeonggido in South Korea, Yang San (陽傘양산), has lived in Taiwan for about 4 years. As a vegetarian, she found out that there are many vegan restaurants in Taiwan so she wishes to share more about vegetarian food through videos with the Korean audience. A YouTube Channel 陽傘양산 is therefore created.

Yang San told the editor of【Taiwan Immigrants' Global News Network】that she happened to learn Chinese characters through her mother’s friend, and this cultivated her interest in learning Chinese. Besides, she also took a Chinese character test, and watched a Taiwanese movie during a tuition class when she was in South Korea, and these made her more interested in Taiwanese movies and cultures.

From the interview with Yang San, it can be told that she is an independent, brave, and optimistic girl. She mentioned that she chose to study at a University in Changhua because she could interact with Taiwanese more and learn cooking, which is her passion. Now, she has obtained the “Food Baking & Western Culinary” certificates.

In this episode of the "New Immigrants in Taiwan" column, Yang San attended the “No Meat Market (無肉市集)” in Hsinchu. This is the market that she has been looking forward to participating in for a long while. In the market, she not only tasted delicious vegetarian food but also understood the great dedication shown by Taiwanese to promoting vegan diets.

Yang San experienced the friendliness of Taiwanese while visiting the market. She bought a vegetarian ice cream with Oreo and mint chocolate flavor which is highly recommended to the audience by her.

Later on, Yang San’s friend was pleasantly surprised when she tried vegetarian Takoyaki (章魚燒) and Taiwanese meatball (肉圓). Yang San also mentioned that the Takoyaki is not greasy at all and very crispy, and the Taiwanese meatball tastes nice with the toppings and coriander which can be the top one she has ever tried.

In the No Meat Market, there are plant-based food & beverage available. Moreover, the market promotes “environmental protection” by not serving containers and disposable utensils. Besides sharing the gourmet food, Yang San also wants to deliver the message of “Protecting the environment” to the Korean audience through the video.
