The Philippines was severely hit by Super Typhoon Rai on December 16, 2021. According to the latest statistics from the Philippine government, the typhoon caused 378 deaths, 742 injured, and 60 missing. As many as 3.95 million residents were affected by the storm and local infrastructure and agricultural losses have exceeded 400 million U.S. dollars.

As the areas affected by the typhoon are still increasing, the Taiwan government has formed a task force "Aid to the Philippines to recover from Typhoon Rai". The Executive Yuan presided over the project meeting, instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, the Agriculture and Food Agency, the Council of Agriculture and the Overseas Community Affairs Council to join the task force.

More than a hundred staff were mobilized, and they urgently collected various disaster relief supplies and dispatched the National Army C-130 transport aircraft on

December 25 and 26 to provide humanitarian aid.

The supplies carried this time are mainly dry food, biscuits, instant noodles, bottled drinking water, canned food, tents and portable water filters that are most needed by the victims of natural disasters. The C-130 transport aircraft departed from Pingtung Airport and flew directly to the nearest Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
