Every December 18th is the United Nations International Migrants Day, and it is also the Immigrants Day in Taiwan. National Immigration Agency (Chiayi County Service Center) organizes a multicultural event and invites Ms. Lin Xing-Rong, the Indonesian new immigrant, to introduce traditional Indonesian culture and cuisine.

20 new immigrants from Vietnam and Indonesia were invited to learn about Indonesian traditional culture and cuisine in the event. Xing-Rong shared cooking secrets with enthusiasm and led everyone to make authentic Indonesian mochi, which received praise. Everyone hopes to learn more about Indonesian cuisine and share it with relatives and friends. In addition, Xing-Rong has also been involved in public welfare for a long time, cooperating with government agencies in Chiayi County, and devoted what she has learned all her life to the society. She encourages the new immigrants to learn, express themselves, and open up possibilities in the future.

According to Lin Xing-Rong, that she hopes to bring different culture experience to the public and share the unique Indonesian culture, also look forward to the mutual exchanges between different cultures to let more people know the beautiful sides of Indonesia. She also appreciates the meaningful event organized by Chiayi County Service Station for making people learn about Indonesian culture and respect multiculturalism.

There are about 570,000 new immigrants in Taiwan, according to Lin Bing Huang (林炳煌), the Director of Chiayi County Service Center. Through organizing multicultural activities, to create a platform for new immigrants to introduce the culture of their hometown and promote the values of different cultures and welcome new immigrants to join the society.
