On August 18, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 11 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 11 new cases, six are domestic and the other five are imported. The CECC reported no deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the six domestic cases (they didn't test positive while they were in home isolation), two are male and the other four are female, aged between 20 and 89 years old. One of those cases suffered the onset of symptoms on August 14 while the others didn't experience any symptoms. Of those domestic cases, four cases were reported in Taipei City and two cases were reported in New Taipei City.

Regarding the five new imported cases, they are one man and four women, aged between 20 to 49 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the United States (two cases), Saudi Arabia, India, and France. They arrived between May 17 and August 15.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,407,073 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,389,646. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,891 cases. Of the 15,891 confirmed cases, 1,351 are imported; 14,487 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 821 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 821 deaths, 813 are from domestic cases and the other 8 are from imported cases.
