Recently, the Zhubei Employment Center of the Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli Branch helped a new immigrant, Xiao Xun (a pseudonym), successfully return to the workforce and claim the incentive. Xiao Xun, originally from the Philippines, was actively seeking employment to support her family but faced repeated rejections due to language barriers and transportation constraints. Her husband had previously secured a job at a tech factory through the assistance of the Zhubei Employment Center, which prompted Xiao Xun to seek help from the same center.
Employment service officers at the center addressed her challenges by assisting her in creating bilingual (Chinese and English) resumes and identifying nearby, immigrant-friendly employers. Eventually, they referred her to a tech factory in Hukou, where she successfully obtained a technician position. To increase her chances of success, the service officer even accompanied her to the interview.
In her new role, Xiao Xun communicates primarily in English with her colleagues and has adapted well to her work environment. With the assistance of the employment service officer, she applied for the "Employment Incentive for Specific Industries" and successfully received the subsidy. She expressed gratitude to the Zhubei Employment Center, stating that the subsidy significantly eased her family's financial burden. Xiao Xun has also enrolled in a Mandarin language course for new immigrants, aiming to improve her Chinese skills and integrate more seamlessly into life in Taiwan.
Lai Jia-Ren, Director of the Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli Branch, stated that the "Employment Incentive for Specific Industries" program is designed for those who have been unemployed for more than 30 days or have left their jobs involuntarily. Through referrals from public employment agencies, individuals joining designated manufacturing industries are eligible for a monthly subsidy of NT$5,000 to NT$7,000 for up to 18 months.
