On April 10, the Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced the upgraded classic version of the "Taiwan PASS", along with three brand-new packages. The enhanced pass further integrates transportation and attraction resources to improve travel convenience for independent travelers in Taiwan. To show appreciation to tourists, the Tourism Administration is also launching a limited-time &ldquoBuy One, Get One Free&rdquo offer for two travelers, encouraging both domestic and international visitors to explore Taiwan at a discounted price.
Since 2024, the "Taiwan PASS" has successively incorporated Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR), Taiwan Railways (TRA), the four major metro systems, and four popular Taiwan Tourist Shuttle routes. Two core pass types have been available: the THSR version (for international travelers only) and the TRA version (for both domestic and international travelers). In this latest upgrade, QR code boarding has been introduced on the Sun Moon Lake Line and Alishan Line of the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle. A new &ldquoYilan Tourist Shuttle 3-Day Pass&rdquo has also been added, offering more flexibility for cross-regional travel. Notably, this is the first time a one-way ticket for the Alishan Forest Railway has been included, making it easier for tourists to visit Alishan &mdash selected by The New York Times as one of the &ldquo52 Places to Go in 2025.&rdquo

The Tourism Administration has also launched three brand-new versions of the Taiwan PASS:
★ Taiwan PASS &ndash THSR Attractions Version (NT$2,800, for international travelers only): Combines high-speed rail with attractions across Taiwan.
★ Taiwan PASS &ndash TRA Attractions Version (NT$2,400 for domestic and international travelers): Combines Taiwan Railways with popular sightseeing destinations.
★ Taiwan PASS &ndash Easy Go Highlights Version (NT$1,900): Includes a 3-day combo of metro systems, Taiwan Tourist Shuttle, TRA, Alishan Forest Railway branch line, car rental vouchers, and features Taiwan&rsquos &ldquoTop 100 Tourist Highlights&rdquo for a highly flexible travel plan.

These three new packages integrate a total of 14 famous attractions, including:
Yilan National Center for Traditional Arts, Yehliu Geopark, National Palace Museum (Taipei & Chiayi branches), Taipei Zoo, Miramar Ferris Wheel, National Museum of Natural Science (Taichung), Cingjing Farm, Sun Moon Lake, Alishan, Pier-2 Art Center, Love River Solar Boat, and Kenting National Forest Recreation Area &mdash allowing travelers to enjoy both transportation and admission in one pass.
Tourism Administration Director-General Chou Yung-hui stated that since the launch of &ldquoTaiwan PASS&rdquo in 2024, around 25,000 passes have been sold, receiving very positive feedback. In response to the growing demand for short-term domestic trips, the 2025 upgrade strengthens connections between attractions, aiming to attract more travelers to explore Taiwan in depth.
The Tourism Administration added that the three new Taiwan PASS packages officially go on sale starting April 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., alongside the &ldquoBuy One, Get One Free&rdquo promotion. The THSR and TRA Attractions Versions are each limited to 200 sets, while the Easy Go Highlights Version is limited to 800 sets, available while supplies last.
With its all-new upgrades, Taiwan PASS is expected to further drive Taiwan&rsquos tourism development by offering travelers more diverse and convenient ways to explore the island in depth.
