With the goal of advancing friendship and cooperation between Taiwan and Austria, Austrian member of the Austrian National Council Carmen Jeitler-Cincelli and a cross-party delegation of members visited Taiwan to speak with Taiwanese government officials and experts on bilateral political, economic, industrial development, and human rights issues.

The Austrian delegation will meet with the President of the Legislative Yuan, the Minister of the Environment, Ministry of Digital Affairs, the Institute for National Defense and Security Research, the Taiwan Computer Association, the Taiwan Equality Campaign, as well as visits to the National Human Rights Museum and other landmarks, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The MOFA noted that this is the first time an Austrian member of parliament has visited Taiwan since the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Carmen Jeitler-Cincelli, the delegation looked forward to interacting with and understanding one another as well as finding allies in Taiwan. They also aimed to create a better environment for Taiwan and Austria by learning from Taiwan, which is always inventing and evolving. In addition, she made the point that while many people associate Austria with the composer Mozart, the country has made significant advancements in other disciplines as well, including environmental preservation and health and medical technologies.
