The Tourism and Travel Department of the New Taipei City Government was invited to Tottori Prefecture, Japan, to participate in the grand "Qiang Qiang Umbrella Dance Festival." This visit was also an opportunity to promote New Taipei City's two major cultural events: the "2025 Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival" and the "2024 New Taipei City Christmasland." The purpose of this trip was not only to foster tourism exchanges between the two regions but also to further enhance New Taipei City's international recognition.
Tottori Prefecture is famous for its spectacular dunes and the unique "Sand Museum," while New Taipei City's Fulong International Sand Sculpture Festival and Bali Sand Sculpture events have similar attractions. Yang Tsung-Min, Director of the Tourism and Travel Department, pointed out that this exchange will help both sides learn from each other's successful experiences and jointly promote their respective tourism features. The natural landscapes of both regions, such as Tottori's Uradome Coast and New Taipei's North Coast rock formations, also share many similarities, offering more opportunities for cooperation.

During the exchange activities in Tottori Prefecture, representatives from New Taipei City gained an in-depth understanding of the local umbrella dance culture and experienced this traditional dance with a long history. Yang Tsung-Min emphasized that by participating in such international events, New Taipei City can learn valuable lessons, further improve the quality of its events, and strengthen international cultural exchanges.
In addition, during the exchange dinner with Tottori Prefecture, Yang Tsung-Min presented gifts symbolizing the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival and Christmasland to the local government and extended a sincere invitation for Tottori Prefecture to participate in the upcoming 2025 Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival and the 2024 New Taipei City Christmasland. He hopes that this cultural exchange will deepen the friendship between the two regions and bring more international cooperation opportunities to New Taipei City's tourism industry.
