According to The Manila Times, SEN. Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go has urged local government units (LGUs) and authorities in charge of the rollout to visit individuals belonging to groups prioritized for vaccination and inoculate them in their homes.

Go on June 5 also appealed to senior citizens and members of other priority groups to "get vaccinated immediately so others can be vaccinated too."

"If there is a need to go directly to the homes of the elderly and those with comorbidities, then let's do it," he said.

The senator said the vaccination program can only proceed to the next groups only after most of the medical frontliners, senior citizens, the elderly with comorbidities have been jabbed.

He urged law enforcement authorities to go after those who are involved in the illegal activity while stressing government-acquired vaccines are free.

As of May 31, the government has administered more than five million vaccine doses, and the country has the highest rate and vaccination tempo in the Asean region.

Almost four million people have received the first dose and more than one million have completed their doses.

The Manila Times says, go said time is of the essence and all necessary steps must be taken to ensure those in the A1-A3 categories are vaccinated.

This way, the rollout can proceed to other priority sectors in line with the goal of reaching herd immunity in communities, he said.

The senator raised the need to put up more vaccination sites to maximize the rollout.

He called on local leaders, in coordination with the national government, to strengthen their local vaccination rollout and vaccine education awareness campaigns to further encourage their constituents to get inoculated.

He said vaccinating priority groups will prevent hospitalization, severe cases and deaths, and provide people the protection needed to reduce the risks of infection.
