She runs their YouTube channel "Hang TV-Vietnam Taiwan" with her husband, Li Chia-yang, John (厲家揚). The theme of their YouTube channel centers around Taiwan-Vietnam life and cultural exchanges, tourism, language, and they use both Chinese and Vietnamese language in their videos. They have many fans on the internet, and the number of their subscribers exceed 230,000 with over 36 million views.

Nguyen Thu Hang comes from Phu Tho Province (富壽省) in northern Vietnam. After graduating from high school, her mother worked in Taiwan. By chance, she came to Taiwan to learn Chinese and then attended university and graduate school in Taiwan. She met her husband John, who works in the TV industry, when she participated in TV programs. Even if they have many fans, they continue to operate their YouTube channel without losing their original intentions and they still shoot and edit their videos themselves.

As film topics becomes more diversified, and their exposure increased after media coverage both in Taiwan and in Vietnam, Nguyen Thu Hang was invited to be the host of the 2018 Republic of China National Day Celebration Ceremony, and she became the first Taiwanese new immigrant to be the host for this event.

The editor of [New Immigrants’ Global News Network] contacted Thu Hang and her husband John Li Chia-yang. During their interview, they talked about stories on filming videos and the joy of being new parents.

Because of the epidemic, work, pregnancy, childbirth and many other reasons, Thu Hang has not been able to return to Vietnam for a long time. Recently, she received many moon cake gift boxes, and she told the editor of Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network that she now understands the meaning of the phrase "remember your relatives every festive season."

Thu Hang said that both Taiwan and Vietnam have the custom of eating moon cakes and worshiping their ancestors during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Vietnam’s Mid-Autumn Festival is also a children’s day. Thu Hang and John just had a new baby and this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival is also their first Children’s Day, which gives it a special meaning.

The biggest feature of the Mid-Autumn Festival in Taiwan is enjoying barbecue. In Vietnam, there are dragon and lion dances during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and lanterns are hung everywhere, and children also come out to play with lanterns.

Whether in Taiwan or Vietnam, everyone will prepare a lot of hearty dishes to eat with the family during the Mid-Autumn Festival, just like having a reunion dinner during the New Year.

In the past few years, Thu Hang and John would also invite Vietnamese friends in Taiwan to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival together. Everyone will cook Vietnamese dishes and make lanterns, so family and friends in Taiwan can experience the Vietnamese Mid-Autumn Festival experience without barbecue.
