Taiwan Won the first U18 Asian Cup

Since 2018, the World Baseball and Softball Conference (WBSC) has launched a 5-a-side baseball game in order to promote the innovation of the baseball population. In the spirit of baseball and softball, the field is reduced. A team can play with only 5 people, and a mixed team of men and women , No catcher, no pitcher, bat, only 5 innings, fast paced.

After several days of intense competition, the South Korean, Malaysian, and Chinese teams were all defeated by the Chunghwa representative team in the Futsal Asian Cup (U18) Baseball Championship and won the first championship in the tournament's history with a 2-0 triumph and secured the first-ever entry to the World Cup this year. "We came to competition for some experience and prepare for better performance in the World Cup," head coach (林朝煌) stated.

The majority of the Chunghwa team's players this year are from Taichung City. They have defeated tough opponents and won the Asian Cup after two stages and a total of 12 days of preparation. According to the head coach (林朝煌), the players put in a lot of effort. These youngsters are in some degree injured due to the speed and rhythm, yet everyone continues to compete fiercely. The head coach is very happy that they can win this championship

WBSC seeks to modernize and accelerate baseball in order to draw in a younger audience, expand the number of international players, and increase the number of baseball enthusiasts. Five-a-side baseball is currently played in more than 70 nations on five continents.
