The number of new immigrants who come to live or work in Taiwan is increasing. There are many Southeast Asian grocery stores opened by new immigrants. Many Southeast Asian foods and supplies are sold in the stores. The new immigrants come to the stores because they miss the taste of their hometown food.

As the population of Taiwan becomes more diversified, the Taiwanese has started to accept foreign cultures, such as tasting exotic foods. Indonesian overseas-Chinese Youtuber Li Yin-chie IN J (李音杰), who has lived in Taiwan for ten years, often shares about his life in Taiwan and introduces Indonesian topics through videos. Li Yin-chie IN J introduced a kind of "Indonesian Lacha" (Max Tea) that many Taiwanese friends will specifically ask him to bring back when he returns from Indonesia. To avoid misunderstanding by the Taiwanese, he said that "Indonesian Lacha" and "India Lacha" are different. Another favorite food that is only available in Indonesia, is a traditional food called "Tempe" (天貝), which is fermented with soybeans and can be deep fried or stir fried.

There is also Indonesian sweet soy sauce specially recommended by Li Yin-chie IN J, which is always present in Indonesian food, and is not available in stores in Taiwan. There were two young people in the store tasting Indonesian cuisine for the first time. They felt that Indonesian cuisine has a heavier taste and is spicy, which they find very delicious.

Aside from the food and the daily care products that the Indonesians buy from these stores, there is also a special "money remittance" service that is offered to Indonesians to send money back to their families in Indonesia. This is convenient for some Indonesians who do not speak Chinese, because they may face difficulties due to language problems when going to banks to remit money, so Indonesian stores provide convenient money remittance services.
