During the COVID-19 pandemic, the capacity of community clinics was significantly expanded. Clinic physicians played a crucial role in providing telemedicine services, community testing, and vaccine administration, becoming key gatekeepers of community healthcare.
Taiwan’s rapidly aging society has further underscored the indispensable role of community clinics in chronic disease management and long-term care. According to statistics from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, over 60% of elderly Taiwanese suffer from two or more chronic illnesses. Clinics are well-positioned to offer integrated "comorbidity care," reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for treatment.
