The European Union (EU, 歐洲聯盟) announced in the middle of June, that they have included Taiwan in its safe travel list.  Member countries of the EU will gradually lift entry restrictions on non-essential travel to Taiwan and open tourism to Taiwan. Schengen area countries (申根區) including Germany, Netherlands, France, Belgium and Switzerland announce their lifting of travel restrictions to Taiwan. However, people should be aware that different countries have different policies on whether they should show a negative Covid19 test certificate when entering the country.

  • Netherlands: Taiwan is listed as a low-risk country for tourism. Since June 24, there is no need to undergo quarantine or show a negative Covid19 test certificate upon entering the Netherlands.
  • France: Taiwan is included in the Green Zone. From June 24, whether vaccinated or not, non-essential travel including tourism will be allowed to enter France.
  • Belgium: Starting from July 5th, passengers traveling from Taiwan to Belgium do not need to be quarantined, nor provide a negative Covid test report. However, it should be noted that if the travelers have stayed in a designated red area for more than one day within the last 14 days before entering Belgium, they must take a Covid test and comply with quarantine regulations after entry.
  • Germany: Starting from June 20, the entry restrictions have been lifted for travelers entering Germany from Taiwan. But for those who will enter Germany by air must provide a COVID-19 test certificate, a recovery certificate or a vaccination certificate.
  • Switzerland: Starting from June 26, the anti-Covid19 measures and entry restrictions for other countries and regions outside the Schengen area have been greatly relaxed. Taiwan is no longer on the list of high-risk countries. Therefore, Taiwanese travelers can enter Switzerland with a negative PCR test certificate or a vaccination certificate with no need to undergo quarantine.
