The Pingtung County Government's Transportation and Tourism Department reported that the county administration is aggressively looking for funding from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to build smart transportation. The self-driving bus finished evaluating the route's viability in February of this year and decided to conduct a test run in the Kenting National Forest Recreation Area.

A cruise-style bus is used in the self-driving bus experimental operation to transport people. The ride outward stops at the visitor center for 15 minutes before continuing to the Guanhai Tower from the Kenting Forest Recreation Area's ticket gate. Only drop-off services are offered by the visitor center along the route. The course is around 1.9 kilometers long in total. There will only be 6 passengers permitted to board each shift for test run. The Pingtung County Administration will keep track of the operation's progress and assess how many passengers will be permitted to embark.
