Charities Assist NIA during the epidemic and donate to Yilan Immigration Detention Center

Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network” Tzu Chi Foundation is very concerned about the Yilan Immigration Detention Center. Therefore, the foundation donated relief gifts and epidemic prevention materials in mid-April this year to express care and condolences, and to support the Yilan shelter of NIA to overcome the epidemic difficulties. 900 doses of a rapid antigen test, 3,000 medical masks, 500 protective masks, 500 isolation gowns, and 350 copies of blessing gifts were donated (including Jingsi herbal drink and Jingsi grains, etc.)

The donations of material were collected at the Yilan Jing Si Abode. Cai, Zhao-He(蔡照和), as the representative of the Tzu Chi Foundation donated them to the Yilan Immigration Detention Center. The donations of material are aimed to bring peace of mind to the shelters and staff.

The detention and repatriation works which in accordance with service-oriented and humanitarian beliefs, and law-based administration were performed in Yilan Immigration Detention Center, so that the immigrants who are detained can spend the period of detention with peace of mind and return to their counties as soon as possible. The epidemic has been severe recently, and Yilan Immigration Detention Center strictly implements preventions the epidemic based on regulations of Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC); however, many staff have been confirmed as positive for COVID-19 because of strongly contagious virus.

Lin, Jun-Liang(林俊良), director of Yilan Immigration Detention Center, expressed his gratitude to the Tzu Chi Foundation for several donation of epidemic prevention materials. This time, he is very grateful for the donation. In addition to protecting the health and safety of all the staff in the Yilan Immigration Detention Center, the charity movement conveys warmth and provides positive support for the NIA.
