Filipino film Hello, Love, Goodbye (2019) has been nominated in the Best Asian Film category at the 2019 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA).
Hello, Love, Goodbye (2019) is a romantic drama film directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. The film follows Joy Fabregas (Kathryn Bernardo), a struggling overseas Filipino worker, and Ethan Del Rosario (Alden Richards), a bartender, as they attempt to reconcile their personal careers and love for each other in Hong Kong. When they fall in love, they both agree that the relationship would be temporary. But as their bond deepens, the questions is would they be able to keep to their agreement.
It was released on July 31, 2019 in the Philippines, the film is the highest grossing Philippine film, earning more than 880 million. On the announcement of its inclusion, AACTA described the Cathy Garcia-Molina-directed movie as a “highly relatable romantic comedy.”
Over the past year, the global reach of Asian film has continued to grow with an increasing number of high-quality, creative storylines being recognized at international film festivals and at the local and international box office. Overall, the Best Asian Film winner will be announced in Sydney on Dec. 4.
The AACTA Award for Best Asian Film recognizes the exceptional films from the Asian region, from box-office hits and international film festival favorites to a Palme d’Or winner and multiple Best International Feature Film Oscar entries.
