On June 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 275 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 275 new cases, 274 are indigenous and the other one is imported. The CECC also announced 25 deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 274 indigenous cases, 142 are men and the other 132 are women, aged between under 5 and 99 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between May 14 and June 8, 2021. Regarding those indigenous cases, New Taipei City reported most cases, at 162, and Taipei City had the second highest number, at 63. Taoyuan City reported 15 cases; Miaoli County reported 12; Keelung City reported 10; Changhua County and Nantou County reported 3 each; Yilan County reported 2; Tainan City, Chiayi City, Taichung City and Hsinchu County reported 1 each.

Regarding the 25 deaths announced today, they were 20 men and five women between 50 and 99 years old.

Regarding the new imported cases, Case #12033 is a Taiwanese male in his 50s. He developed suspected symptoms while in India on May 1, and returned to Taiwan from India on June 7. After arrival, he was quarantined in a group quarantine facility, was then tested for COVID-19. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on June 9.

The CECC reported that a total of 739,818 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 717,016. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 11,968 cases. Of the 11,968 confirmed cases, 1,149 are imported; 10,766 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated; and a cumulative total of 66 cases (including one newly added) have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. Of the confirmed cases, there have been 333 deaths.
