Muslim-friendly environment in Taoyuan, Longgang Mosque underwent building expansion

The opening ceremony of a new building of Longgang Mosque (龍岡清真寺) in Taoyuan rounded off recently. Built in 1964, Longgang Mosque was established with the support of faithful believers, and the current size of the building is the result of several expansion projects.

The Mosque is used for gatherings and worship of local Islam, and it is in Islamic architecture. It is hoped that Longgang Mosque will become a highlight of Taiwan's Islamic culture and enable more people to have a deeper understanding of Islam.

As the number of new immigrants & migrant workers increases gradually, many of them would celebrate festivals such as Hari Raya Idul Fitri and Longgang Rice Noodle Festival in Longgang Mosque and the building has become a key cultural landmark in Taoyuan.

Cheng Wen-tsan (鄭文燦), the Mayor of the Taoyuan City, expressed his gratitude for the contributions of the Longgang Mosque and local groups. Under the leadership of Chairman Ma of the Longgang Mosque, the Islamic culture is promoted and becomes compatible with the local cultures.

Zhong Jing Kun (鐘景琨), the Director of the National Immigration Agency, MOI stated that there are nearly 700,000 migrant workers in Taiwan and many of them are Muslims. Longgang Mosque thus becomes a place for migrant workers and new immigrants for gatherings, providing spiritual sustenance and support for them. The new building of the Mosque was successfully established, and it will serve more faithful believers, new immigrants and migrant workers in the future.
