Tunghai University specifically sung "The Paper Reeds By The Brooks" for Mrs. Rice, an American instructor who arrived in Taiwan 60 years ago to conduct the university's sacred orchestra, as a token of appreciation. Mrs. Rice is currently 90 years old in the United States.

According to Tunghai University, the sacred choir was established in 1960 and Mrs. Rice was asked to teach there from the United States. Mrs. Rice, who was under thirty years old at the time, was the choir's leader and the group rose to prominence in Taiwan as an exceptional choir. The pupils also made a lot of progress. The members of the troupe were extremely appreciative of the professors' work since they had the chance to participate in the creation of operas and international musicals and provide public performances.
Later, Mrs. Rice went back to teach in the US. She had initially intended to rejoin the musicians of the holy orchestra at Tunghai University in 2020. Nevertheless, the members thanked the instructor because Mrs. Rice's physical state was no longer appropriate for traveling because of the effects of the pandemic. The choir made the decision to get back together at Tunghai University and perform a video tribute to the most cherished instructor out of respect, remembrance, and love.
