The Education Department, New Taipei City Government will host a Southeast Asian Language Competition and an International Language Competition on the purpose of fostering students' interest and motivation in learning Southeast Asian languages as well as to provide them the opportunity to exhibit their learning outcomes. June 1st to June 30th will be the registration period. Thai, Cambodian, Burmese, Malay, Vietnamese, Hindi, Cambodian, and Filipino are among the seven participating languages. Both "group reading" and "group singing" will be categories in the competition. A 3,000 NTD gift voucher will be given to the winning team.

The "Japanese and Korean group" and the "Chinese language group for foreign students" will be developed in the future, according to the director of the Department Education, to give instructors and students additional opportunity to participate. He also thinks that the competition will encourage more diversity of the city by allowing the new immigrants to take full advantage of their language abilities.

New Taipei City teaching support staff (李拉雀薇) has been committed to Thai language teaching for a long time. The students she guided have won awards in Southeast Asian Languages Competition in 2022. She expressed the through participating in the competition, students' motivation to learn Thai will be enhanced and students will be given more opportunities to use Thai language.
