The 2024 New Taipei City Music Scene Rising Star Selection Project focuses on traditional music and holds an annual joint concert in November

The 2024 New Taipei City Music Star Selection Project is about to make its grand debut. It is hosted by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the New Taipei City Government. The project has entered its ninth year and will focus on the selection of traditional music for the first time. This year, the well-known musician Chen Zhenggang is specially invited to serve as the planner to lead the emerging talents to jointly plan the annual performance.

The Rising Stars Selection Program aims to discover and cultivate outstanding musical talents and has become a landmark event in the domestic youth music industry. Each year, a number of emerging talents are selected. In addition to providing bonus incentives, they also assist in organizing formal concerts through professional venues and provide necessary resource support to young musicians.

According to the announcement from the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the New Taipei City Government, a total of 10 rookies were selected this year, divided into high school vocational groups and college groups. They will hold two joint concerts on November 16th and 17th at the Performing Arts Hall of the New Taipei City Arts Center, namely "Flying Fire" and "Dream Sound", showcasing diverse musical styles, integrating flute, erhu, dulcimer, Various musical instruments such as Sheng, Liuqin and Beifuan allow the audience to experience the unique charm of traditional music and at the same time feel the interpretation and innovation of traditional culture by the new generation of musicians.

The "Flying Fire" concert on November 16 was jointly curated by six rising stars, Ye Yanbo, Lin Yanhang, Pan Ting, Chen Weiyi, Wu Yutong and Wu Zhikui, and performed seven technically rich and profoundly meaningful pieces, showcasing the power of different instruments. The "Dream Sound" concert on November 17 was co-curated by four rising stars: Zhang Chenru, Bai Zixian, Xiao Yuqin and Ma Peixian. The repertoire has a variety of styles and inspires unique emotions and creative sparks. In addition, this concert will cooperate with the local Beikuan society in New Taipei City, "Banqiao Jiangzi Cuichaohe Society", to integrate Beikuan and Chinese music, allowing the music to develop a more diverse style while retaining the traditional beauty, breaking the Stereotypes of traditional music.

Admission to the two concerts is free, and ticket registration is now open through the Accupass online system of the New Taipei City Arts Center.
