The mask restriction will be further relaxed beginning on April 17, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC). The "Relaxation of the Regulations on Wearing Masks in Public Transport" was formally proclaimed by CECC. Except for "medical care institutions" and "ambulances". People can choose whether to wear masks or not when they travel via public transit, attend school, and other locations.

The command center said that it had taken into account three key factors, including the group's improved immunological defense, the low threat posed by the mutant strain pandemic, and the public's individual decision to wear masks in response to the circumstances. The policy of relaxing public transportation mask requirements has been adjusted in line with the direction of global epidemic prevention adjustments, and the majority of nations, including Singapore, Japan, South Korea, etc., no longer require but instead recommend wearing masks. Vehicles are not required to wear masks. The mandatory to wear a mask is adjusted to a recommendation when traveling on campus shuttle buses, school buses, kindergarten special vehicles, etc. The choice to wear a mask is up to the teachers and students.

The command center emphasized that in addition to the Covid-19 virus, seasonal flu and other diseases are also present at this time, so institutions related to medical care, such as ambulances, hospitals, clinics, elderly welfare institutions, long-term care facilities, still need to be forced to wear masks. Restrictions will not be relaxed.
