Tainan City Government propagandas anti-fraud and anti-drug to strengthen new immigrants’ safety in Taiwan

The Tainan City Police Department, Public Health Bureau, Tainan City government and the agencies recently organized three anti-drug and anti-fraud propaganda activities for migrant workers, introducing them to common fraud techniques and Taiwanese drugs current situation, in an effort to strengthen the safety of migrant workers in Taiwan.

In 2023, the number of migrant workers in Tainan City have exceeded 60,000, according to statistics from the Ministry of the Interior. Many of these migrant workers are likely to fall victims to fraud since they are unfamiliar with Chinese and Taiwanese regulations. In order to help migrant workers in recognizing typical fraudulent techniques including "investment fraud," "shopping fraud," "fake dating fraud," and "phishing SMS fraud," the Tainan City Police Department adopts simple foreign language slogans and visual cards. The Public Health Bureau, Tainan City government brought together qualified interpreters to discuss issues including the prevalence and risks of drugs as well as the methods for helping and supporting drug users. Migrant workers and employees may learn more about current situation of drug hazards in Taiwan through authentic images, legal explanations, and examples from actual instances, if required, to get expert help.

The Tainan City Police Department also specifically advises people to phone the 165 national anti-fraud hotline or inquire at the closest police station in cases of suspected fraud.
