The Taipei City Government introduced a birth bonus program this year with subsidies of NT$40,000 for the first kid, NT$45,000 for the second child, and NT$50,000 for each child after the third in an effort to raise the fertility rate in Taipei City. But the Taipei City Government meeting recently agreed to move the subsidy date back to December 25 of the previous year. Citizens who still qualify for subsidies after the retrospective will automatically get NT$20,000 from the household registration office in their accounts without additional registration.

The household registration offices of each district will transfer the difference to the account that initially applied for the bonus before August 31 and will notify the account by SMS when the remittance is finished, according to the Department of Civil Affairs, Taipei City Government. Beginning in early September, citizens can look up the status of their deposit account. Additionally, the household registration office would contact the public to tell them of the change of the receiving account if they initially used the EasyWallet account to receive the money or if the account where the original payment was made cannot be properly remitted for whatever reason.

The Department of Civil Affairs further emphasized that any internet links would not be included in the SMS notice of the reissuance of maternity benefits; instead, it will simply state that the incentive bonus have been reissued and credited. The household staff won't request general public identifying personal information or conducting phone transfers. The public is urged to pay closer attention in order to prevent scams.
