  Huge 2,492-carat diamond, believed to be world's second-largest, unearthed in Botswana

  A massive 2,492-carat rough diamond, thought to be the second largest ever found, has been unearthed in Botswana by Canadian mining company Lucara Diamond Corp. This extraordinary gem, discovered at Lucara’s Karowe mine, is said to be the biggest since the 3,106-carat Cullinan Diamond found in South Africa in 1905. The diamond was recovered using Lucara's Mega Diamond Recovery technology, specifically designed to detect and preserve large stones. Lucara, which has previously uncovered six of the top 10 diamonds in history, will present this remarkable find to Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi for further evaluation.
