The Fengyuan area of Taichung City is about to welcome a grand cultural and dance feast – the “2024 Taichung International Dance Carnival,” set to take place on September 14-15. This year, the Taichung City Government has moved the event to the front of Fengyuan Train Station, inviting 15 top-performing teams from Europe, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia to showcase a variety of rich and diverse dance performances. This carnival is not only a cultural festival but also aims to boost the economic benefits of the Fengyuan area, allowing more people to discover this charming town.
One of the main highlights of the event is the “National Dance Fun Competition,” now in its second year, inviting dance lovers from across the country to participate. Teams can be formed with at least five members, regardless of age or background, as long as they love music and dance. Winners will have the chance to win generous prizes, with online registration open until the day of the event. This is a great opportunity for the public to experience the joy of turning streets into a stage, showcasing Taichung’s vibrancy and creativity.

In addition to the fun competition, a “Dance Teaching Experience Activity” will be held on September 15, offering the public a chance to learn various dance styles. Participants can learn different dance moves under the guidance of professional dance instructors and feel the charm of dance. Moreover, the event is combined with local attractions such as the Tzu Chi Temple, and Miaodong Fuxing Shopping District, and partnered with nearby businesses to promote Fengyuan tourism, boosting mountain town accommodation and consumption, which is expected to greatly enhance the region's economic benefits.
Taichung City Tourism Bureau Director, Chen Mei Xiu, stated that this year’s carnival brings together performance groups from Nagoya, Hokkaido, Lithuania, Thailand, Vietnam, and Korea, as well as many local professional dance groups and school teams, creating a lively and multicultural dance feast. She encourages all dance lovers to participate enthusiastically, regardless of age or background; as long as there is passion, anyone can shine on this stage.
