Dry body brushing (dry body brush) has become a popular beauty method in recent years across Europe and the US, endorsed by numerous celebrities like supermodel Miranda Kerr. This technique involves using a brush with soft bristles, such as boar hair, horsehair, or wool, to dry brush the skin before showering. It is said to promote blood circulation, support lymphatic detoxification, and provide exfoliation benefits. When dry brushing, it is crucial to choose brushes made from natural plant fibers or soft animal hair to avoid skin damage caused by synthetic fibers or nylon materials.Dry brushing can be considered another option for body massage. The optimal time for dry brushing is in the morning or before an evening shower, with each session lasting around 5 minutes. The brushing technique should follow the principle of "toward the heart." For the front of the body: brush from the collarbones toward the lymph nodes in the neck, from the chest area toward the armpits and thymus lymph nodes, and from the abdomen toward the groin lymph nodes. For the back: brush from the buttocks and lower back toward the sides of the body, and finally toward the groin area. After dry brushing, shower and apply a natural lotion or coconut oil to moisturize the skin for the best care results. You can choose to do it before your evening shower, for about 5 minutes each time. However, the medical effectiveness of dry brushing for lymphatic detoxification remains controversial. Dermatologists caution against dry brushing for individuals with dry, itchy skin, wounds, or atopic dermatitis. Moreover, those using retinoids, fruit acids, or other exfoliating products should also avoid this practice. Despite these limitations, for women with generally healthy skin, dry brushing offers a simple and refreshing beauty option that enhances the massage experience and leaves the skin feeling softer and smoother.
