Keeping your makeup intact during the summer heat may seem impossible, but makeup artists have tips to make it last all day. We enlisted experts like celebrity makeup artist Michael Anthony, who works with stars like Ariana Grande and Katy Perry, and Sephora's Beauty Director Helen Dagdag. They know how to prevent makeup meltdown. Whether you're attending an outdoor wedding or just trying to stay cool, you'll find all the necessary steps (and products!) to achieve long-lasting makeup.
Long-lasting makeup begins with preparation, not just the final products. "Sweat and oil can definitely impact your makeup's longevity if you haven't prepped your skin correctly," says makeup artist and LYS Beauty founder Tisha Thompson. She recommends addressing this issue from both ends by using primer and setting spray at the beginning and end of your makeup routine to lock everything in place.
For a lasting look, choose matte or semi-matte foundations and concealers, as they usually contain anti-oil ingredients and last longer. Dagdag recommends Danessa Myricks' Yummy Skin products, infused with hyaluronic acid and caffeine, which are great for combination and oily skin. Another favorite is the Urban Decay Face Bond Self-Setting Waterproof Foundation, which provides ample coverage with just a few drops.

All experts agree that less is more when it comes to setting powder. Strategically applying powder can make a big difference. "The key is to really work the powder into the brush, puff, or sponge before applying it to the skin," says Jenny Patinkin. Anthony also suggests "baking" by applying a bit of translucent powder to oily areas and then brushing off the excess. Dagdag prefers tools like Sephora's Pro Brush #59 for a smooth, even application without clumping.
