International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination:
The United Nations General Assembly enacted a resolution on December 21st, 1965, and it was made available for ratification and signing by all nations. This convention was signed by Taiwan on March 31st, 1966, and it went into force on January 4th, 1969.
The "International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination" of the UN mandates that States Parties condemn racial discrimination and commit to outlawing and putting an end to it by any means necessary, including passing laws as the need arises.
Taiwan requested the Ministry of the Interior to implement and promote this agreement in 2013, in accordance with a resolution of the Presidential Office Human Rights Consultative Committee, verifying that our nation had signed and ratified it before leaving the UN. This convention already has the force of domestic law because it is a treaty.
The Ministry of the Interior actively managed both domestic and international evaluations in 2018. The promotion plan established by the Ministry of the Interior was approved by the Executive Yuan in 2020.
