Recently, National Immigration Agency Hsinchu County Service Center hosted a family education course and invited a new immigrant lecturer (駱秀娥) from Malaysia, to share with the students the distinctive breakfast culture of Malaysia, including the way of greeting and various types of breakfast, in order to bring the students better understand Malaysian daily life.

The lecturer explained in course that Malaysian cuisine is made up of several ethnic groups, just as the local languages, including Chinese, Nanyang, Indian, etc. It is much simpler to set a goal for yourself to consume food from different nations for every meal for three days in a row. The food center is a favorite among the residents for breakfast. The locals like a lot of Hainanese chicken rice, Hong Kong-style stewed soup, ramen, char kway teow(炒粿條), and dumplings. According to the lecturer, if you want to greet if the locals are eaten yet, you can say: "Have you got Kopi yet?"

The family education course, according to the commissioner (蕭綉如) of the NIA Hsinchu County Service Center, incorporated aspects of Malaysian breakfast culture and got good feedbacks from the students. Activities for international exchange are planned so that participants would have a greater appreciation for other peoples' cultures and ways of life.
